Bashar Barakah Jackson popularly known as Pop Smoke was born on July 20, 1999, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. His mother, Audrey Jackson is a Panamanian, and his father, Greg Jackson is a Jamaican. He had an older brother named Obasi.

Pop Smoke was murdered in his home- Hollywood Hills, California. Four hooded men carrying a handgun broke into his house. A call to the police and after arriving six minutes later, the police found him with multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately rushed to the hospital and was confirmed dead a few hours later.
The Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner revealed that Pop Smoke’s cause of death was due to the gunshot wounds to his torso. It was later believed that he died due to the consequences of a home robbery gone wrong.
